Everyone had a favorite teacher, one with whom we each connected in some special way. It may have been because he or she saw a possibility in us that we had not seen in ourselves; it may have been that we developed a love of a subject because the person at the head of the class was so excited by it. That instructor may have been the object of our first infatuation. Whatever the reason -- and the reasons are as varied as the personalities involved -- an appreciation was felt that was probably never expressed. We were, after all, kids.

Well, every so often one gets a second chance. This is yours. If you ever wished to thank a Beach High teacher for giving you something that you have carried through life, here's the place to do it. Perhaps your sentiment will be read by that very teacher; if not, it will undoubtedly be read by some teacher somewhere who has taught a young man or woman that has yearned to say "thank you" but couldn't find the words or muster the courage . . .

but I owe a special debt of gratitude to my sixth grade teacher at Central Beach Elementary School. Thank you deeply and sincerely, Mr. Kreisberg, for taking an interest in my social development. You showed me kindness and patience that have never been forgotten.
